Bright, buttery green beans with sweet cherry tomatoes and fresh basil make a simple, flavorful side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb fresh green beans, trimmed

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • 10 oz cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place green beans in a large saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until beans are tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  4. Add cherry tomatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 3–4 minutes.

  5. Stir in green beans and heat for another minute.

  6. Remove from heat, stir in fresh basil, and serve.
